THE JUDGES
A groundbreaking animated mockumentary series. Eight episodes, each centered on a specific cold case set in the frozen wastelands of the former Soviet Union, grey brutalist towers, snow that covers everything, silence that hides secrets. A jury of specialists must understand what happened, why, and ensure it never happens again. Heavily inspired by SCP lore, Metro and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series, Horror and thriller elements dissolve into the surreal and the sublime.
Title Sequence — keyframes
The title sequence was designed as a quick visual introduction to the core concept of the series. At its center is the idea of justice, not as a legal system, but as something more personal and subjective, capable of pushing through any opposition. The recurring figure represents this presence: it guides, observes, and stands behind the judges, suggesting a form of judgment that exists beyond the courtroom.
GFX — Found Footage Interface
The visual language is built around a fake animated found-footage aesthetic, blending thriller and documentary elements to reinforce immersion rather than break it. The graphics are not just illustrative, they carry information, opinions, and assumptions from the judges, actively contributing to the investigation. There’s no clear separation between “evidence” and reality: everything exists within the same space. The crimes are not presented as distant events, but as something that still lingers, unfolding as they are being analyzed.
Concept Art — Pre-production
These concept artworks are meant to evoke Russia and the former Soviet Union, through cold tones, grey palettes, and heavy, oppressive architecture. The environments are shaped by isolation, fear, and a sense of desolation. The choice of colors and settings is closely tied to the cultural and historical atmosphere these places carry. Drawing from influences like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Metro, the spaces feel constrained and rigid, defined by underlying tension and a constant sense of control.
